About
This is a short film directed by: Judit Elena Østern Lien & will be premiering at the Raindance Film Festival in London
A 13-year-old girl is affected each night by her grandfather’s nightmares. As her need to understand collides with his need to conceal, the film explores how the impact of war trauma passes down through generations.
This is the first film I’ve edited where I had zero involvement in pre-production. It’s also my first time editing a project that wasn’t in English or Norwegian. Working without prior context or deep knowledge of the story was an interesting challenge, but it made for a really unique experience.
The editing process went smoothly because the director had prepared an edit script beforehand. This streamlined our workflow, and our communication was clear and straightforward throughout. On top of that, I got to recreate the iconic Dynasty intro, which was a fun creative challenge.
I thoroughly enjoyed editing this piece. Piecing the story together felt like watching a movie for the first time, but with the added thrill of building it myself as I began to truly understand it.
Stills.
